"B.R.I.C.S." stands for the association of five major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The term was originally coined as "BRIC" in 2001 by economist Jim O'Neill to describe the four countries of Brazil, Russia, India, and China, which he believed would become significant players in the global economy over the coming decades. South Africa later joined the group in 2010, expanding it to "BRICS."

The BRICS countries come together to discuss and collaborate on various economic, political, and strategic issues of mutual interest. They represent a diverse range of economies and cultures and seek to enhance their collective influence on global matters. The group holds regular summits to discuss and coordinate policies on issues such as trade, development, infrastructure, and global governance.
