Hurricane Idalia: Was a Category 4 Hurricane which made landfall near Keaton Beach in Florida's Big Bend area on August 30,2023. The tenth tropical storm, third hurricane, and second major hurricane of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, Idalia formed from a low-pressure area that crossed Central America from the eastern Pacific Ocean. It slowly gained momentum and speed before hitting Florida's Big Bend area. Fortunately, the storm didn't hover over land causing more damage, it moved up through Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina before turning into the Atlantic Ocean.

It’s known for Cedar Key National Wildlife Refuge, a group of small islands with trails and rich birdlife. Florida's Hurricanes: The threat of hurricanes is very real for Florida during the six-month long Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 until November 30. The peak of hurricane season occurs between mid-August and late October, when the waters in the equatorial Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico have warmed enough to help support the development of tropical waves.
