The Andromeda Strain (2008) [2 of 2]

Episode 1 (May 26 2008) : A team of government scientists is promptly assembled to investigate a mysterious contagion code-named Andromeda that killed everyone in a remote desert town in Utah. Meanwhile, an investigative journalist is tipped off about the incident. As the infection slowly spreads, the team learns more about the mysterious nature of Andromeda, the journalist infiltrates the local military quarantine unit, and POTUS orders the nuking of the infected area.
The Andromeda Strain is a 2008 science fiction miniseries, based on the 1969 novel of the same name written by Michael Crichton about a team of scientists who investigate a deadly disease of extraterrestrial origin. The miniseries is a "reimagining" of the original novel rather than an adaptation. In addition to updating the setting to the early 21st century, the miniseries makes a great many plot and character changes from its source. The mini-series has two episodes for a total of 169 minutes.

The mini series was directed by Mikael Salomon and stars Benjamin Bratt, Eric McCormack, Christa Miller, Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Perri, and Viola Davis. Series music was composed by Joel J. Richard.
