In United States copyright law, fair use is a doctrine that permits limited use of copyrighted material without acquiring permission from the rights holders. the fair use defense to copyright infringement was codified for the first time in section 107 of the 1976 Act. the effect of the use upon the market (or potential market) for the original work.[4]
