A prominent figure within the Proud Boys, who spearheaded the far-right organization’s notorious march to the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, has received a substantial prison sentence of 17 years – one of the lengthiest sentences imposed on a convicted participant in the riot.

Joe Biggs, following a trial in Washington, D.C., was found guilty by a jury of various charges, including seditious conspiracy, CNN reported.

He was convicted for his role in attempting to forcibly obstruct the peaceful transfer of power from then-President Donald Trump to Joe Biden after the 2020 election.
