Constable R. M. D. Dayaratne was tasked with stopping protesters from breaking into Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s residence in July 2022. Before he managed to radio HQ to say ‘instructions unclear,’ he sat at a piano, and played a delightful song while the protesters defiled the president’s bed, jumped in his pool and rummaged through his unmentionables.

Rajapaksa then fled the country, although that was probably because of the enormous economic troubles and social unrest, and not a reflection of Dayarante’s skill at tickling the ivories.

Unsurprisingly, Dayarante has been spectacularly fired over his ‘breach of discipline’ in the key of G. Makes you wonder why the US police force couldn’t do that when they let the January 6 protesters in. They didn’t even turn on the radio.
