Man Finds a Lone Lamb in the Himalayas
Occurred on April 26, 2023 / Kasol, Himachal Pradesh, India
Info from Licensor: "It was in India, in its northern part, where the Himalayas, with a sharp wall, rise to the sky, in a beautiful valley with the poetic name of Parvati, a very beautiful state, Himachal Pradesh. The village of Kasol is squeezed very narrowly by the mountains. We had been living in India for 3 months and drove into this valley for 4 days before the tour we organized in Small Tibet (Spiti Valley). A storm was approaching, but I decided to take a walk and sit in the downpour somewhere under the rock. From the village, there is only one road along a narrow gorge, which not even a wild beast can descend, not to mention a herd of lamb. The day before, I was high in the mountains, where a couple of small villages are located, where this road leads along the map. But I walked along a steep, steep path, so there was an idea of the terrain. The nearest pasture was about 1,500-2000 vertical meters. In the mountains, only spring came and grass appeared in alpine meadows. In the valley itself, there is not a single opportunity to graze cattle, very narrow and cool, everything is covered with huge Himalayan cedars and pines. The plan was just to go after a couple of hours. The weather began to deteriorate very much, a gusty wind blowing and rain. I could not decide whether to go further (but there was only a long road going along the gorge, and to the villages more than 6-7 hours to go) or go back. After 30 minutes of wandering around, I decided to go back. And at that moment, barely noticeable, I heard the sound. Because of the gusts of wind and the noise of the river, it was difficult to make out. At the time when I started shooting, I did not know what would be there. After going beyond a small crest, I heard that it was a kid or lamb. How did he end up here, not in the fields, but far from alpine meadows? There are no pastures or shepherds and there is no trace of it. Here you can’t just get to pastures. I could not take it with me, as I left the next day. The only thing was to transfer it to the upper villages. But I myself could not. It would be possible to transfer to the car, but as it turned out later because of a hurricane, a huge cedar fell on the road. Therefore, trying to go towards the mountains, but realizing the absurdity of this attempt, I decided to go home with him and was thinking about where to put it. And after 15 min, I met a car with a bunch of locals in the back. This is not visible in the video. When the car drove up, everything seemed to fit together. It seemed that they already understood me, that I had found him and even seemed to know where to give him, obviously more than I did. Here is such a strange story. A dog, a lamb, and a storm in the Himalayas."
