President Biden’s goal is to make sure that that day doesn’t come. Nobody wants to see a conflict over Taiwan and the Taiwan Strait, and there’s no reason for it to come to that. Quite frankly, there’s been no change to American policy when it comes to the “one China” policy. We don’t support independence for Taiwan, and we’ve said time and time and time again that we don’t want to see the status quo changed in a unilateral fashion, and we certainly don’t want to see it change by force.
