Multiple emergency units were dispatched in response to a significant two-alarm structural fire close to the Arts District near Las Vegas. As of the latest update, it has been confirmed that three individuals were present inside the building during the incident and managed to evacuate the premises. Among them, one person required medical attention due to smoke inhalation and was subsequently taken to a medical facility.
During the evening of Tuesday, a multitude of response units from Las Vegas Fire & Rescue reacted to a two-alarm structural fire located in proximity to the Arts District. The incident transpired at an abandoned commercial establishment situated near the crossroads of Charleston Boulevard and 3rd Street, shortly past 6:20 p.m. Although the precise number of fire engines and rescue teams arriving at the scene has not been officially confirmed, there was a visible presence of thick smoke enveloping the vicinity. This resulted in the temporary closure of Charleston Boulevard in both directions, stretching between Main Street and Las Vegas Blvd. Currently, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue has yet to disclose specific details regarding the origin of the fire or any further information pertaining to potential injuries incurred.
Individuals are advised to circumvent the affected area and explore alternative transportation routes. This incident remains an ongoing situation, and as more information becomes available, updates will be provided. In an update provided the following morning, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue affirmed the successful extinguishing of the fire. Response units are currently en route to conduct a comprehensive secondary search of the entire structure. The root cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
Reports from the City of Las Vegas officials conveyed that their Code Enforcement team had received a report concerning unauthorized occupants in the building on June 8, 2023. Collaborating with property management, the city ensured the premises were secured by June 12. A subsequent evaluation on July 6 confirmed the continued security of the property. After a third inspection conducted on July 20, the case was officially closed.
Previously reported, fire departments were actively engaged at the intersection of Charleston and 3rd Street, addressing a two-alarm structural fire that transpired on Tuesday evening. Both Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and the Clark County Fire Department were present at the 300 block of E. Charleston Boulevard, having been dispatched around 6:23 p.m. Officials have now verified that the structure in question is an abandoned commercial building. Given the intensity of the fire, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue indicated a requirement for supplementary resources, prompting the incident commander to request a second alarm. Although all three occupants within the structure managed to evacuate, one individual necessitated medical attention due to smoke inhalation. This individual's condition is reportedly stable, and they have been transported to a medical facility.
As a result of the ongoing situation, Charleston Boulevard is currently closed eastbound at 3rd Street. Authorities have emphasized the need to avoid this area and consider alternative routes.
