Semispinalis:
Origins:
Thoracis: Transverse Processes of T6 – T10
Cervicis: Transverse Processes of T1 – T5
Capitis: Transverse Processes of C7 – T6 & Articular Processes of C4 – C6

Insertions:
Thoracis: Spinous Processes of C6 – T4
Cervicis: Spinous Processes of C2 – C5
Capitis: Occipital Bone between the Superior and Inferior Nuchal Lines

Functions:
1- Extension of the Trunk & Neck @ the Spinal Joints
2- Extension of the Head @ the Atlanto-Occipital Joint
3- Lateral Flexion of the Trunk & Neck @ the Spinal Joints
4- Lateral Flexion of the Head @ the Atlanto- Occipital Joints
5- Contra-Lateral Rotation of the Trunk & Neck @ the Spinal Joints

Nerve:
Dorsal (Posterior) Rami of the Spinal Nerves at the Corresponding Levels

Activation: Lateral Flexion and Contralateral Rotation
Lengthening: Do the same as Splenius Capitis, except do Ipsilateral Rotation
