Gabon Coup: Another Former French Colony In Turmoil | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Mere minutes after the election results were announced, Gabon's military initiated a coup. They put President Ali Bongo Ondimba under house arrest right after he had been declared the winner of the presidential election.

The Bongo family has ruled Gabon for about 55 years. They have been accused of rampant corruption, but have always shared close ties with France. Paris says that it wants the coup to end and the results of Saturday's election to be respected.
