You should do a study on the root word for gentile(s) - interesting word. sometimes translated as gentile(s) and sometimes as nation(s)
As in God promised to make Abraham the Father of many NATIONS - same word as gentiles. so to say God would make Abraham the father of many gentiles would make no sense, so they did it right.
sometimes that word was applied to Israel, sometimes to the canaanites. context. The Lord hides things for us to find, to hide from the wicked.

Genesis 17:5 - Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many (same word as gentiles) nations have I made thee.
so where are these many "jewish" nations God promised Abraham? One is not many
Did God lie or are the jews only one of the 12 tribes?
there were 11 other tribes. Did you know Israel and Judah split in the days after Solomon died?

They had wars against each other, different kings and God divorced Israel, but not Judah.
