The Patterson-Gimlin Film is the most iconic modern-day film evidence of Bigfoot in the United States. The footage was shot in October of 1967 in northern California by filmmakers Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin, who maintained over the years that the creature they caught on video was real and authentic. The film lasted less than 60 seconds and shows a large, hairy bipedal ape-like humanoid walking towards a tree line towards the woods.

According to Patterson and Gimlin, they were the only witnesses to their brief encounter with what they claimed was a Sasquatch. Their statements agree in general, but there were a number of minor inconsistencies. Disagreements in perception and memory are noteworthy - leading to a discussion that all was potentially not as they claimed. Some say that the men were able to capture the film footage because they accompanied hunters, hired by a logging company in the area.
