Lets GO! - SAILING Across the Atlantic Ocean Part 1 [Ep. 43]

We sail away from St. Maarten, into the vast bluewater of the Atlantic Ocean as we begin the 2500 mile transatlantic journey to Horta, Azores. Sailing across the Atlantic is not to be taken lightly, we will encounter storms and gear failure. There is no one to rescue us if we have a problem at sea. We prepare by stocking the boat with spare parts, provisions, and some maintenance to ensure our sailboat is ready to go! Then we raise our sails and head to the open sea.

We also show you some sailing basics as we head off on our passage. Sailing 101 stuff like adjusting the traveler, unfurling the genoa, raising the anchor, and more.

This is our sailboat story of our live on board. We launched our boat in July of 2019 to sail away and circumnavigate the worlds oceans via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We are going West to East, or the hard way. We sail shorthanded, with the two of us and our rescue dog turned sailing dog, Roxy.

We are Kate and Curtis, two racing sailors from the Great Lakes that sold it all to live on a tiny home on the sea, off the grid, and experience the world from a different perspective. We now make sailing videos to share this with you. We try to share some sailing basics with you that will make you a better sailor, experience gained from our time sailboat racing.

Like you we watched sailing channels before we were living on a sailboat, like sailing uma, sailing soulianis, sailing la vagabonde, or mj sailing. We want to share our success and fails with you in fun videos that are relaxing and inspirational.
