First human jumped from space

In a historic moment that captured the world's attention, on October 14, 2012, Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner became the first human to jump from the edge of space. Strapped inside a pressurized capsule attached to a high-altitude balloon, Baumgartner ascended to an astonishing altitude of approximately 128,100 feet (39,045 meters). With the Earth's curvature visible in the background, he stepped out of the capsule and plummeted towards the planet. During his descent, he broke the sound barrier and reached a maximum speed of around 843.6 miles per hour (1,357.6 kilometers per hour), experiencing a few tense moments of uncontrolled spinning before stabilizing.
