Narcissist’s Selfish Genes

Narcissism cannot be reduced to specific genes or to pinpointed neural pathways or activities. Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is all-pervasive: narcissism IS the narcissist.

Categorical criteria phased out in favor of dimensional alternative model. Additionally, we are transitioning from a static to a dynamics model (no type constancy) and from an ego-syntomic to an ego-dystonic (compensatory) model.

Heritability not gene specificity.

Hereditary contribution in BPD, AsPD (psychopathy).
