Why do dogs eat grass?

There is some bright green grass in my backyard that Russell and Miles LOVE to eat.

What’s up with that?

Well, I did a little research.

Have you ever taken your pup out for a pee break and turned around to see them munching on some grass? Well don't freak out just yet! This behaviour isn't always a cause for concern. But why do they do it, and when should you worry? And is there a way to get them to stop?

Well, there are a few reasons why dogs love to chow down on grass. For starters, they might be missing some key nutrients in their diet. If that's the case, try switching up their food or adding some supplements to their meals.

Another reason could be that they need more fiber in their diet to help with digestion and keep things moving smoothly. In that case, try feeding them food with a higher fiber content.

But sometimes, dogs just have a natural instinct to eat grass. Back in the day, their wild ancestors would eat the whole animal, including the plants in their stomachs. So maybe it's just in their genes to crave some greens every now and then.

So, don't worry too much if your furry friend likes to snack on some grass. Just keep an eye on them and make sure they're not eating anything toxic. And if you're really concerned, talk to your vet about it.
