Late Night Shooting at Sacramento Car Meet Leaves One Dead and Two Injured
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A shooting incident rocked a monthly car meetup at the Arcade Market parking lot on Saturday evening, prompting a swift response from Sacramento's Police and Fire Departments. According to local residents who spoke to PSN, the incident occurred during the event, sending shockwaves through the community.
Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a barrage of gunshots during the gathering, and preliminary radio reports revealed that a male victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso. The Sacramento Police Department (SacPD) promptly issued a press release providing further details on the tragic incident.
In an official statement released on August 26, 2023, SacPD confirmed that at approximately 10:38 p.m., officers responded to distress calls regarding the shooting at the 1400 Block of Arcade Boulevard. Upon their arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Immediate life-saving measures were initiated, but sadly, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Sacramento Fire Department personnel.
Two other victims, a male juvenile and an adult male, were found at local hospitals. Both had sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. SacPD's homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were swiftly dispatched to take charge of the ongoing investigation. The area was meticulously processed for evidence, and witnesses were extensively interviewed as part of the preliminary efforts.
As the inquiry is still in its early stages, the precise sequence of events leading to the shooting remains under scrutiny. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will disclose the identity of the deceased once his next of kin have been duly informed.
SacPD is urging any individuals who possess information pertinent to the investigation to step forward. They can contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or reach out to Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Confidentiality is assured, and tipsters may be eligible for a reward reaching up to $1,000. Anonymous tips are also welcomed and can be submitted via the "P3 Tips" smartphone app.
