BC’s 2023 wildfires displaced tens of thousands residents, many of whom watched their life’s legacy go up in flames together with irreplaceable memories. In the name of the ‘public good’ many were denied the ability to defend their own properties as bureaucratic decisions denied many access to their own homes while others were cut off from life sustaining assistance according to some reports. Just what is the proper balance between an individual’s Constitutional/Charter rights against the governmental pursuit of the ‘public interest’? We hope to have guests Thursday August 31st at 7 pm PDT who will debate both sides of this volatile, polarizing issue.
