Manatees Cause Ripples When Man "Throws" Water In River
Maria McCormick shot this video of an unusual occurrence as her husband Scott was tossing water from their boat into the overflowing St. John's River in Volusia County, Florida. A massive storm just passed the night before, so every time the husband would throw the water out, the river would ripple furiously as if some mythical sea monster was living down there.
"My husband was bailing water out of our boat after a huge storm. Every time he threw the water we saw splashes in the water. I happened to be recording on one of the tosses, and we saw huge splashes of water everywhere. We both looked at each other and said 'I will never swim in there again!'" Maria said about what they have witnessed.
You may call them sea cows or even mermaids; no matter what, manatees are the most gentle creatures on the planet. They can be found all over the coast of Florida, where you can kayak alongside them. These animals are protected under state law, and if someone were to violate said laws, they could face the same fate as the McCormicks. Federal penalties include up to a year in prison and a $50,000 fine.
The sprinkling is brought about by the meek animals (likewise called sea cows) who are bothered by the swells on the outside of the water. The video was shot at the St Johns River in Florida and has likewise been viewed by more than 2.3 million Facebook clients. While it isn't known whether the creatures were hurt by whatever the fluid was, numerous watchers still smoked at the apparent abuse of the manatees.
Manatees are large, fully aquatic, mostly herbivorous marine mammals sometimes known as sea cows. There are three accepted living species of Trichechidae, representing three of the four living species in the order Sirenia: the Amazonian manatee, the West Indian manatee, and the West African manatee.
Even though this video might seems fresh and exciting, this couple may be charged with jail time for animal abuse. They received a lot of hate comments about this video because they are disturbing and harassing the manatees!
A person even said that he had never seen manatees behave like this; they must have been upset. Those of you who are semi-experts in manatees, watch the video below and let us know what you think. Do he needs to do jail time, or not?
