Andreas Mogensen, the pilot of Crew-7, hails from Copenhagen, Denmark, and earned his status as an ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut in 2009. In 2015, he made history as the first Danish citizen in space, launching on a Soyuz spacecraft for a 10-day mission to the space station. Prior to his space adventures, Mogensen completed his undergraduate studies and earned a master's degree in aeronautical engineering at Imperial College London in England. He furthered his education by obtaining a doctorate in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mogensen's space journey includes being part of NEEMO (NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations) missions and serving as the European astronaut liaison officer at NASA's Johnson Space Center from 2016 to 2022. In this role, he acted as a CAPCOM, communicating with astronauts on the station, and provided ground support for spacewalks, conveying instructions and tasks from mission control to the spacewalkers.
