Because all you need to de-ice your windshield is a mixture that you can make up at home in no time. All you need for this is water and isopropanol.

Grab a spray bottle and add 100 ml of water and 200 ml of isopropanol. This is 99.9% cleaning alcohol. Shake this mixture well and you have your homemade de-icing spray.

So when you come out in the morning and your windshield is frozen, all you have to do is get out your spray bottle and spray it on the windows. The ice will melt right away and run down the windshield.

This way, you can get right in the car and drive off, and you didn't have to scrape ice and freeze your fingers off beforehand. If you've never tried it this way, you should definitely give this trick a try!
