Many proponents argue that central banks are like the Fire Corps coming to quench the fire. As the governor of the Bank of Canada has stated: “A firefighter has never been criticized for using too much water.” While there is an agreement to be made whether this is based on malicious intent or negligence, the fact remains that one cannot argue with the following words from Peter Drucker, who perfectly described a central banker's situation: “You can’t manage what you can’t measure.”
