GT20 Canada Season 3 _ Match - 9 Highlights _ Vancouver Knights vs Montreal Tigers
Anticipation of a crackling contest was in the air, with the two balanced teams set to face off against each other. The toss went in the Tigers' favor and they fielded first, continuing the trend.
The first innings got underway in the unlikeliest manner. Kaleem Sana who delivered one of the best spells in the last match for the Tigers, bowled a couple of huge wide deliveries. The Knights opener Rayyan Pathan attempting to unsettle Carlos Brathwaite was caught by Dilpreet Singh. This early strike didn't faze off Fakhar Zaman who was batting beautifully at the other end. Some tight bowling from the Tigers restricted Fakhar from unleashing to the fullest. A fine moment of cricketing brilliance from Dipendra Singh Airee saw the back of Harsh Thaker. This brought the skipper Rassie van der Dussen in the middle with Fakhar Zaman. These two together brought up another 50-run partnership of the innings, which was again broken courtesy of Airee with some little help from Brathwaite. The Tigers didn't give away anything at the death overs, restricting the Knights to a modest total of 149.
The two explosive openers from the Tigers - Chris Lynn and Muhammad Waseem were facing Fabian Allen. In a horrid start, the Tigers lost both their openers, getting bowled over by Allen. It was Shakib Al Hasan with the youngster Dilpreet Singh Bajwa who steadied the ship for a while, both playing some delightful strokes. Shakib who wanted to take the attack to the opposition scooped one straight in the air off Ruben Trumpelmann, who was caught by Junaid Siddique at fine leg. Suddenly, the Tigers found themselves at 21/3 with Rutherford coming to the crease within just 3 overs. Both the batters cautiously went about the chase, with Dilpreet moving along with a run-a-ball inning. Again it was Fabian Allen who got rid of Dilpreet Singh but this time with his fielding. Rutherford had a new partner in Dipendra Airee. These two together played with maturity and good match awareness. They cruised along the chase with Airee playing the supporting role, and once settled, Rutherford unleashed his hitting ability. The Knights had no answer to this pair and soon they finished off the match, with Rutherford hitting a six to win it for the Tigers.
The Tigers won the match by 6 wickets.
