The Chandrayaan-3 mission is a collaboration between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the European Space Agency (ESA).

The lander is named Vikram, after Vikram Sarabhai, the father of the Indian space program.

The rover is named Pragyan, which means "wisdom" in Sanskrit.

The mission is expected to last for one year.

The soft-landing will be a challenging feat, as the Moon's south pole is a region with high crater densities and uneven terrain.
