Originally launched as the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) in 2009, NEOWISE has evolved into a space telescope that peers into the deepest recesses of space, uncovering the mysteries of asteroids, comets, and distant galaxies. While its primary mission concluded in 2011, NEOWISE reawakened in 2013 with a new purpose — scrutinizing near-Earth objects (NEOs) and distant cosmic wanderers.
