Xuming Li, a former Ph.D. student in the chemistry department at the University of South Florida complained about loud noises coming from a family in an upstairs apartment after their daughter was born last year which were determined by the landlord and the occupants to be not true after doing a "simulation"

He was arrested and charged with numerous counts of battery and possession of a controlled substance after he was seen on a security camera filling a syringe then leaning down to apparently expel the chemicals, methadone and hydrocodone into the apartment under the door of Umar Abdullah that was making them, including his baby, suffer from grogginess, sickness, and vomiting

Li's attorney said he pleaded not guilty to the charges despite the video evidence
