Making the Most of Mercury Retrograde

I have learned a lot through trial and error about making the most of this wonky energy. Attitude is everything: if you expect Mercury Retrograde to knock you flat, it probably will, but if you expect this to be a time of contemplation and creative opportunities, you’ll ride the astrological tide with joy.

Here are a few of my DO’s and DON’Ts to help you get through Mercury Retrograde with a smile.

Don’t:
Plan any big trips. For some reason, my wanderlust always kicks in during Mercury Retrograde, but I’ve learned the hard way that trips I plan during this time (even when I take them months later) tend to unravel.
Do:
Take whatever trips you have planned. Just because Mercury Retrograde has been known to mess with travel, don’t let that scare you. There may be some delays, but don’t let that stop you from going where you want. Just be patient, and try to keep a positive attitude.
Don’t:
Plan to be really social. There are lots of parties going on right now, but beware the retrograde impulse to over-commit.
Do:
Take more time for yourself during a retrograde. Pamper yourself with a bubble bath, or reconnect with your mind through meditation.
Don’t:
Lose your temper. Easier said than done, I know, but this is not a good time to get into it with the people around you.
Do:
Be extra patient, and try to keep the peace.
Don’t:
Make any major career or life changes during this period.
Do:
Take stock of your life, and think about the things you’d like to change and the things you’d like to re-commit to. Again, this is a great time for inner work, and you can begin manifesting change on the outer plane once things have settled down for the planets.
