What it means to Deny Yourself

Matthew 16:24 - “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”

What does it mean to Deny Yourself?
Going to church on Sunday and do JUST enough to be saved?
Or Devote yourself entirely to Him.

Jesus, who is fully man, and fully God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage
He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death (Philippians 2:6-8)
