India has become the first country to soft-land on the moon's south pole, with the Vikram lander sharing the first image after landing. The 'Pragyaan' rover will be used by ISRO scientists to explore the composition of lunar soil and rocks over the next 14 days. The Chandrayaan 3 mission, launched on July 14, took 41 days to touch down on the moon's surface. The lander was separated from the Propulsion Module on August 17. India is now the fourth country to soft-land on the moon after the US, China, and former Soviet Union.
