Chinese President Xi Jinping was inexplicably absent despite being scheduled to provide remarks on the resilience of the Chinese Economy on the opening day of the BRICS Annual Summit. Xi instead opted to send his Commerce Minister to read his prepared remarks. No explanation was provided.
