Car Rear Ends 18 Wheeler, GOODRICH, August 23, 2023 - Shortly before 7 am on August 23, 2023, an 18 wheeler driven by Hugo Bautista Perez, 35, of Reynosa, Mexico, was south-bound on US-59 when he slowed down for a school bus. Perez was slammed from behind by a white 2019 Chevy Cruze, driven by Christopher Scott Brown, 40, of Livingston. Brown was entrapped in his car and his left leg was broken. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich, Livingston, and Holiday Lake Estates Volunteer Fire Departments, along with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Constable Marcello Rosario, and Troopers Cotye Lowrie and Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Volunteer Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the door of Brown's car. EMS personnel applied a splint to Brown's leg. Brown was transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with other possible injuries. All traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Brown is likely facing a citation for failure to control speed. Brown's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
