Alaska holds many mysteries within its vast wilderness. The numerous Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Wildman, Hairyman and Yeti sightings are just the tip of a very interesting and dangerous iceberg.
Nestled in the heart of southeastern Alaska near Ketchikan, George Inlet unveils a captivating tapestry of wildlife within its coastal and forested realms. Among the remarkable inhabitants, the iconic bald eagle reigns supreme, soaring gracefully overhead or perched on trees, a testament to the area's pristine landscapes. Along the rocky shores and within the surrounding waters, harbor seals and Steller sea lions claim their territory, occasionally gracing observers with their presence as they bask in the sun-dappled environs.
As the seasons shift, George Inlet plays host to a dynamic salmon migration, with various species navigating its waters. The sight of salmon returning upstream to spawn not only entices the keen eyes of predators like bears but also attracts a chorus of marine birds, including gulls and eagles, that partake in the abundant feast. In this coastal sanctuary, the possibility of a serendipitous encounter with marine giants like humpback whales or orcas adds an element of enchantment to the experience, although such sightings are a treasure rather than a certainty.
Traversing into the verdant woodlands surrounding George Inlet, the elusive Sitka black-tailed deer occasionally makes an appearance, cautiously grazing or traversing through the ancient trees. Amid the natural harmonies, smaller denizens, such as mink, river otters, and squirrels, contribute their own notes to this symphony of life.
