The Sun is a massive, luminous ball of hot plasma at the center of our solar system. It's primarily composed of hydrogen and helium and is the primary source of light and energy for Earth. The Sun's powerful gravitational pull keeps the planets in orbit around it. Its surface, known as the photosphere, has a temperature of about 5,500 degrees Celsius (9,932 degrees Fahrenheit). The Sun also emits solar winds and occasional solar flares, which can affect space weather and communication systems on Earth.
