Stand Up Paddle Technique: Bringing Body to the Blade

In this lesson you will learn the very important concept of bringing your body to the blade and not ripping your stand up paddle through the water. Understanding this concept will help you focus on using your legs and your hips when you stand up paddle.

Watch the video to learn how when we place the stand up paddle blade in the water, we are actually trying to bring our board and body up to a stationary blade. Not ripping the paddle through the water.

Imagine that you are sticking your blade into mud and bringing your stand up paddle board and body up to the stationary blade. Visualizing a cross-country skier driving themselves forward with the use of stationary ski poles may also help.

This technique will help you focus on driving your sup surf board, sup foil board, sup race board or regular sup board through the water more efficiently. If you're paddling more efficiently then you'll be able to paddle longer, stronger, prevent injury, catch more waves and have more fun!

Who wouldn't want to do that!?
