Another short clip from the 1988 The Today Show news broadcast about Howdy Doody coming to life to save his drowning puppeteer. (4k Remaster) I like his description of how he was saved "by a tiny hand." Sure you were Steven, sure you were. Has he met the haunted toaster lady? I really hope he met the haunted toaster lady. https://youtu.be/IG2pImlDios

I can only assume he was singing "there are no strings on me" (Yeah, I know it's actually called "I've Got NO Strings." It's not my fault they named the song wrong: https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/I%27ve_Got_No_Strings) as he fished his "partner" out of the frozen lake. Out of all the creepy doll stories, this is one of them.

Never found Howdy Doody or puppets or dolls entertaining. I don't get the appeal. Maybe if they're softline puppets, but then you're just playing with stuffed animals, which is acceptable. Puppet people are weird. No offense to the puppet people. I'm weird too. Just look at the weird stuff I upload. Weird.

Anyway, uncanny valley makes puppets unsettling. Read it. Learn it. Live it.

Who's is Howdy Doody. Who is the man behind the creepy doll?
