After the ECOWAS group of West African states said it was drawing up a military plan against Niger, neighboring Mali, and Burkina, Faso warned that any such action would also amount to declaring war against them.

â—¾The two states also sent military aircraft to help Niger in the event of hostilities. The move has the backing of locals in the Malian capital of Bamako.
