Scrapper Chickens & Garden Tour

Chickens are great for backyard gardens providing egg's and manure for the veggie crop as well as friendly pets.
A deep litter system using wood shavings is the best method, giving you at least a year of low maintenance and keeping the coop fresh and pest free.

You just can't beat fresh homegrown eggs when giving the chickens a mix of grain, pellets, garden greens, kitchen scraps and fresh water.

Selling eggs to friends & neighbours is a good way to help pay for chicken coop expenses or just to keep you in eggs for most of the year.

Chickens have a break through winter to moult & rest up but will come back strong once spring is coming.
Most breeds will lay an egg every 2nd day, some breeds like Isa Browns don't seem to stop but all chickens slow down each year by about 20% so it's best to not hold maximum chickens in the coop and add a couple new ones every year or two.

Keep scratching & have fun!
