MAKEOVER: Still In A Little Bit of Shock! by Christopher Hopkins, The Makeover Guy®

Virginia got a big birthday surprise from a lifelong friend for her birthday. Virginia liked her color so Joelle added highlights creating a soft beige blonde. Virginia also liked hair that is clean, without product. So there would be no beachy messy look created here. When it got to the cut I could see she had natural curl. However, being a weak and heavy hair type with strong cowlicks it will go flat, straight and hang forward if combed when wet and will straighten completely if blown dry. To counterbalance, heat with a round brush and blowdryer or thermal iron is then necessary to give volume where she needs it most. We are both fans of the mid century silver screen legends and are both big Doris Day fans. Using that as inspiration, I cut the nape and sides a bit shorter leaving length in the crown. A protien detangling spray helped support her wave and it was set in loose pincurls to use her wave and cowlicks to their advantage. There are several styling options but her face really shone with this approach.
