Hawaii wildfires: Maui emergency chief quits after sirens criticism

Maui's emergency management chief has quit a day after defending his agency's failure to activate it's alarm system in this last week's fatal wildfires.

Harman andaya, who had no prior experience in emergency management, cited "Health reason" For resigning.

In the day since, resident of Hawaii Island have told the BBC a stronger emergency response could have saved more lives.

At least 111 people have been declared dead.More than 1,000 remain missing.
