During the early morning hours of February 4, 2023, Hillsborough Police were called to the site of a disabled vehicle near the intersection of Wertsville Road and Montgomery Road in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Upon arrival, Officer Lawrence noticed that the front passenger-side tire was damaged, along with scratches and dents on the vehicle. He proceeded to question the driver, who was later identified as 33-year-old Abigail Bickar. Ms. Bickar initially denied consuming any alcohol, and told Officer Lawrence that she was coming from her friend’s house.

After the Police observed vomit in the drive side of the car and she exhibited signs of impairment, the officer asked her to participate in field standard field sobriety exercises. Ms. Bickar was unable to properly recite the alphabet, count, walk a straight line, or stand on one leg. Based on these signs of impairment, Officer Lawrence placed Ms. Bickar under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was processed as Hillsborough Police HQ, she was subsequently released with the following citations: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, and refusal to submit to chemical test.
