Gershwin Prelude #1

Imagine being in the audience when this premiered! It may sound just normal and jazzy to us now, but with all the flattened 7ths, this was a new and jarring at the time. To me- it sounds like the hustle and bustle of New York City in its heyday. Taxi horns blaring, the electricity of Broadway, and the rolling racks in the fashion district carefully navigating their way through the masses of people getting to where they needed to go during rush hour.
