Oklahoma City Police Take Down Robbery Suspect Fleeing On Skateboard

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — On June 27, 2023, Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Trayvion Jones attempted to arrest 33-year-old William Lazarus, who entered a church, approached a woman from behind, yanked her purse away and took off on a skateboard. This happened downtown in the 100-block of NW 4th Street. Sgt. Jones tried to deploy his taser, but Lazarus was able to briefly get away. On the second attempt, his taser did work and the suspect fell to the ground face-first. He then was taken into custody by responding officers. According to Police the charges filed against Lazarus are robbery and possession of stolen property. The victim's stolen purse was also recovered during the arrest. Lazarus was later determined to have felony warrants out of California.
