Who was silent film's leading man? Rudolph Valentino, Ramon Navarro, Buster Keaton? All of these men paled in comparison to Baltimore strongman Francis X. Bushman (1883-1966). With hundreds of films under his belt, Bushman was a multimillionaire by 1918. The Romeo in the first onscreen love affair turned real, Bushman was married four times. With five children, Bushman dedicated himself to leaving property and horse ranches in the Pacific Palisades and Maryland to his children. Glimpses of his Bushmanor home can be viewed on YouTube today. Fighting back after being blacklisted by Metro/MGM, Bushman made a radio and television comeback in the 1950s and 1960s.
