The Milky Way galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy that contains our solar system. It's made up of billions of stars, gas, dust, and other celestial objects. The Milky Way is roughly 100,000 light-years in diameter and is one of billions of galaxies in the observable universe. Our sun is located about two-thirds of the way out from the center of the Milky Way.
