The wildfires in Maui have destroyed much of Lahaina, an economic hub in western Maui that drew millions of tourists each year. Over 2700 structures were destroyed in Lahaina and an estimated value of $5.6 billion dollars “has gone away,” according to Governor Josh Green. The fires continued to burn fueled by strong winds from Hurricane Dora as it passed well south of the Hawaiian islands
