24 Hours in Fort Kochi: Walking Tour | Mattancherry Palace | Jew Town | Hot Chips Banana Chips

Join us today as we explore Fort Kochi on foot. We have been staying in the northeast side of the city, so today we head across town to a part of the eastern side known as Jew Town. We passed many of the famous cathedrals and churches and Chinese fishing nets, but it is a holiday and they are really busy so we weren’t able to get up close enough with the GoPro. We decided to begin this family walking tour at the Mattancheery Palace, built by the Portuguese in 1955. We weren’t allowed to film in most of it, but if you decide to go there are beautiful murals painted on the walls, portraits, and fascinating palanquins (or litters) used to carry royalty. We find a small market, head to the water’s edge, and explore Jew Street in search of the famous Paradesi Synagogue. Then, just before we wrap up our time in Fort Kochi, we make a final stop at Chaithram Hot Chips - the best banana chip factory we have ever been to!
