How Food Affects Your Mind - Improve Your Mood With Food
Until my mid-thirties, I had uncontrollable mood swings.
Anything little thing could tick me off and put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day- i.e.: sitting in traffic…the store being out of my favorite coffee creamer…a bad hair day…Anything!
And this daily emotional roller coaster caused me to want to go home and eat a tub of ice cream every night.

But once I was pretty much forced to change my eating habits because of my gestational diabetes, I noticed a number of other symptoms improve…one of them being my mood.
What I finally realized is👉one of the reasons I craved sweets was because sugar is a comfort food.
Comfort foods are called comfort foods for a reason➡️They provide us comfort by triggering the release of dopamine, a feel-good hormone.

Without knowing it, I was stuck in this cycle of unpredictable emotions, craving sugar, followed by more unpredictable emotions.
