Located in the scenic Xuedou Mountain in Fenghua, Zhejiang Province, Xuedou Temple has a history of more than 1,600 years. It is one of the Ten Great Zen Temples in China and is the site of the bodhimandala of Maitreya – the smiling Buddha. Nicknamed the "laughing Buddha," Maitreya is a favorite icon in Chinese culture. The temple attracts a large number of eminent monks and pilgrims.
