Presenting itself as a sci-fi action comedy extravaganza, this film boasts a cast brimming with familiar faces and renowned names hailing from the realms of WWE's "Monday Night RAW" and "Friday Night SmackDown," as well as Ring of Honor, All Elite Wrestling, and Lucha Underground, among others. With such an assembly of talent, this movie undoubtedly vows to deliver an electrifying experience!

"Kill City Cup," penned by Luke Robert, Paul Glantz, Chris Scoville (known for TNA iMPACT! Wrestling and WWE: Monday Night RAW), Rye Mullis (credited in "Were the World Mine" and "Meow"), and Jon Thornhill, presents an unrefined and gritty spectacle that will resonate with those who hold a nostalgic affection for the 90s ECW-style television programming. The plot and character development may be sparse within the film, which unfurls akin to a retro PPV event set in the heart of a futuristic industrial dystopia.

Taking the reins is Brian Edward Kahrs (recognized from "American Ninja Warrior," "Guinness World Records Gone Wild," "Outlast," and "House of Blood") in the role of the authoritative figure, Mr. Kill—a quasi 'Vinnie Mac' figure—overseeing the chaos of "America's MOST BADASS Tournament." As the action ensues, he consistently graces the screen, infusing copious doses of comedic melodrama and rubber-faced theatrics into the proceedings.

Viewers are further treated to in-ring appearances by an ensemble of pro-wrestling and sports entertainment icons, including the former incarnation of the legendary He-Man, Brian Button (known from "Fall of Grayskull," "Conundrum: Secrets Among Friends," All Elite Wrestling, TNA iMPACT! Wrestling), alongside Queen Gia Love (of "Selfgags," "Swimsuit Bondage," "Cannibal Claus," "MILF GiGi's Bondage Fantasies"), Matthew Corklan (featured in WWE: Monday Night RAW, WWE: Friday Night SmackDown, WWE Superstars, All Elite Wrestling, TNA iMPACT! Wrestling, Ring of Honor), April Hunter (of "WCW Monday Nitro," "TNA iMPACT! Wrestling," "The Meat Puppet," "Gravedigger"), and Natalia Markova (known from All Elite Wrestling, NWA USA, "The CruciFire," "Lolipop Gang"). The pace is relentless, with all 'competitors' delivering a frenetic display in the ring, brimming with high-octane stunts and visually captivating excitement.

However, those cinephiles and film enthusiasts expecting intricate storytelling and intricate narrative arcs will likely find themselves disappointed. Yet, that's not the essence of "Kill City Cup." Instead, it stands as a raucous stunt showcase, a visual spectacle of physical theatrics—a nostalgic homage to the punk-rock-infused era of 90s backyard wrestling, presented in the guise of a post-apocalyptic sci-fi gameshow. Its primary target audience? The Jackass generation—those who lived through the 'Monday Night Wars,' ardently supporting the underdog promotion of ECW, toggling channels, trading tapes, and attending live events.

"Kill City Cup" reverberates with the same exhilaration as backyard and DIY promotions, reminiscent of Glasgow’s cherished Insane Championship Wrestling's early output. It manages to capture a comparable essence of chaotic theatrical mayhem, peppered with outrageous fun and a dash of comedy, all while dripping with showmanship and a touch of colorful language. The 'commentary,' while occasionally cheesy and somewhat abrupt, weaves seamlessly into the experience—akin to a deliberate and amusing parody of the nostalgic commentary found in early wrestling games on platforms like the PlayStation.

In all earnestness, "Kill City Cup" is not meant to be taken overly seriously; it thrives on delivering abundant enjoyment to fans of professional wrestling and sports entertainment. With its impressive stunts and an ensemble cast that shines, this movie is a delight for those who have been faithful followers of weekly episodic sports entertainment or wrestling shows. Yet, it also finds appeal among enthusiasts of combat sports, stunt exhibitions, physical theater, slapstick comedy, athletic competitions, and gymnastic performances.
